RALEIGH -- Several witnesses spoke at day two of the Jonathan Broyhill murder trial. Broyhill is charged with first degree murder in the death of a Raleigh political strategist.

Day two included dramatic testimony from Angela Cabe, a neighbor who lived down the street from the Jamie and Nation Hahn, but never met the couple prior to April 22, 2013. Cabe says she and her husband witnessed the aftermath of the alleged stabbings at the Hahn’s north Raleigh home. She and her husband say they heard someone screaming for help, and a short time later saw Jamie Hahn bleeding and gasping for air.

“As she got closer, honestly she was covered in blood, there was blood down in front of her, and all down her pants," said Cabe.

They dialed 911 and several neighbors came to offer help. Cabe says prior to EMS crews arriving she noticed a gash on Hahn's stomach, near her ribcage.

“Just told her to keep breathing, she just said, 'I can't breathe, I can't breathe,' and she just [had[ a glazed-over look," said Cabe.

Broyhill and Hahn worked together for a political fundraising firm Sky Blue Strategies. Hahn allegedly confronted Broyhill about nearly $50,000 missing from a campaign account belonging to former Congressman Brad Miller before she was attacked.

Broyhill’s defense says he just snapped, and that there was never any premeditation to do any harm to his best friends.

On Thursday the jury also heard an audio recording of phone conversation between Jamie Hahn and a debt collector Charles Williford just weeks before her death.

The issue was a nearly $600 overdue business account. The collection agency says they received Hahn’s check in early April, but it bounced.

“Today your bank is saying no good...let me double check on that for you and get back to you cause we have plenty in there," said the voice of Jamie Hahn via voice recording.

Hahn didn't know at the time that the account funds had run out, and Jonathan Broyhill was alleged to have embezzled thousands.

If convicted, Jonathan Broyhill faces life in prison without the chance of parole. The trial resumes on Friday morning.
