CHARLOTTE – Authorities have identified the man killed Friday morning in west Charlotte as Muhammad Clyburn. His body was found around 5:30 a.m. in the yard of a home on Elswick Lane, off Freedom Drive.
Witnesses told police they heard gunshots around 2 a.m., and they hope to get answers soon.
“Everyone should be concerned that there is a homicide investigation going on, and if you have any informatioion that's related to this, please give us a call,” said Maj. Bruce Bellamy, of CMPD.
This is the 17th deadly shooting so far this year in Mecklenburg County. This time last year, there were 10. There is no word yet on a suspect or a motive.
