WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Watertown police have made one arrest as they continue to investigate a number of cases of counterfeit money being passed at businesses in the city.
Police say 20-year old Amarsingh Rahjiv was arrested in connection with a counterfeit $50 dollar bill being used at the Nice-N-Easy on Factory Street.
A warrant was executed at his apartment, and turned up other fake dollar bills, as well as evidence that counterfeit money had been made there.
Rahjiv is charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, but police say they are still investigating other cases where fake $20 and $50 dollar bill have been used in the city.
They're advising businesses to be on the lookout, and asking anyone with more information about the case to call them at (315) 782-2233.
