CHARLOTTE -- The Charlotte City Council approved the rezoning of more than two acres in the Cotswold neighborhood to allow for a Publix Grocery Store to be built.

The property sits across from a Harris Teeter on Randolph Road by North Sharon Amity and Greenwich Roads.

Some council members worried about the increased traffic, but they say there are already plans to alleviate those problems.

"The Cotswold Shopping Center and this project will work together collaboratively at some point to hopefully get a stop light in, and therefore, I'm going to support this petition," said Kenny Smith, a city council member.

The city council voted unanimously to approve this rezoning plan Tuesday night.
