Democratic House candidate Jackie Gordon on Friday will announce having raised more than $260,000 in the final fundraising quarter of 2019 as she seeks to flip the district being vacated by Republican Rep. Peter King.

Gordon's campaign will report raising the money from 1,660 contributors and have more than $289,000 in cash on hand.

King, a longtime and prominent Long Island Republican in Congress, announced his retirement last year.

Gordon is a retired Army Reserve lieutenant colonel and a former Babylon town board member.

“Lt. Colonel (Ret) Jackie Gordon’s experience as a combat veteran, Babylon Town Councilwoman, and educator, and her mission to bring an independent voice to Washington are driving excitement and resources to our people-powered campaign," said Gordon campaign manager Meg Scribner. "Jackie does not take any money from corporate PACs, and the 2nd district is ready for a representative who will take on the special interests and do more for hardworking Long Islanders.”
