WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest has a 5-6 record heading into the final game of the season. One win away from Bowl eligibility, the Demon Deacons are limping into the matchup against Duke.

  • Wake has had 13 season-ending injuries dating back to spring practice.
  • The Duke Blue Devils on the other hand come into the matchup with a 7-4 record.

Wake has had 13 season-ending injuries dating back to spring practice. The injuries have taken a toll on the defensive side of the ball. With limited depth Wake is hoping for the offense to produce long drives and convert third downs to get the defense some rest. The one game mentality comes to fruition on Saturday, in desperate need of a win to go to their third bowl game in three years. Wake Forest will play with a hunger against the rival that they will line up against for the 99th time.

The Duke Blue Devils on the other hand come into the matchup with a 7-4 record. Already Bowl eligible, the Blue Devils are focused on not letting one slip away. All they have to do is think back to last season. The Blue Devils traveled to Winston-Salem with a 5-6 record, hungry to become Bowl eligible. They came out of BB&T stadium with a 31-23 win and a confidence heading into the Quick Lane Bowl. The Blue Devils beat Northern Illinois 36-14. The confidence they gained from winning the last game of the season helped propel them to a 7-6 record. Duke leads the all time series 58-38-2, owning a 27-21 record at Duke, and 26-19 record at Wallace Wade Stadium.

The last win for Wake Forest at Wallace Wade was a 24-14 victory in 2016 and the Demon Deacons hope for a similar result on Saturday.
