WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump thinks he's got the nomination in the bag and North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr agrees.

"We're going to hopefully close this thing out very soon,” said Burr. “I think now that we've cracked the 1,000 number, which is great, right?"

Burr said he'd support a Trump nomination and thinks the wild card candidate could do well in places where Republicans struggled in the past.

However, he admits it's hard to know what we're getting with Trump.

"The one thing I have learned about Donald Trump is you can't predict what he's going to do,” said Burr.

Burr thinks Trump will have the nomination within weeks and then he and Republican candidates down the ticket can transition to campaigning for the general election.
