Medical supplies, such as first aid kits, pain relievers and baby pain relievers are urgently needed in Ukraine

Lyana Watson, a Ukrainian-American from Lviv, has been volunteering a majority of her time helping Ukraine since the war started

This Sunday, Ukrainians in the Carolinas is hosting another large collection drive where they will be shipping items that Watson and countless others in this community have collected

In Apex, one Ukrainian-American woman is doing what she can to help her country.

These days, Lyana Watson, born in Lviv, mostly sorts through medical and military supplies.

She put together a list of crucial supplies Ukrainians need right now and shared it on her Facebook page.

Outside her Apex home, she’s left a donation box on her porch for anyone who wants to help.

I cannot imagine not doing it. People say, 'thank you' to me. I cannot imagine how I could be sitting and not doing something actively. I'm grateful I can, and I'm grateful I have so many connections in the community. So many people know my husband in the community. People reach out to me when they think about Ukraine. They ask me, 'how can we help?'" Watson said.

Watson is part of the Ukrainians in the Carolinas Facebook group, which has turned into an organization with hundreds of volunteers helping sort and donate items every day.

They have been communicating with people on the ground in Ukraine.

Watson says first aid kids, pain relievers and baby pain relievers are important to donate right now.

This Sunday, the group is hosting another large collection drive where they will be shipping items Watson and others in this community have collected.

It will be at North Raleigh Church of Christ from 2-6 p.m.
