CARY, N.C. — For a Cary family, Kamala Harris is an inspiration for many reasons.
The Prasad sisters are Indian-Americans.
They say for the first time in their lives they have someone to look up to who looks like them.
Deana Prasad, 14, was overjoyed when Kamala was elected vice president-elect.
“I think it's amazing, and I think she'll be a great candidate representing women in our country and especially South Asian women," Prasad says.
Dad Dipak Prasad says his girls haven't stopped talking about Harris since Election Day.
“That's very exciting someone that looks like us is in that position, so it's very inspiring," Prasad says.
