RALEIGH, N.C. -- Local law enforcement were celebrated through an event held in downtown Raleigh on Saturday.

The “Defend the Police” rally was put on by a youth group called Students for Trump.

The event included a march around the capitol, as well as many speeches from community leaders.

Hundreds turned up for the event, including NC Secretary of State E.C. Sykes.

“It’s fantastic that people took a Saturday to give their time to come here and show their support for local law enforcement officers, so that’s encouraging,” he says. “There are lots of choices for what to do with your Saturday, and they came here. I’m pleased; it’s a great crowd.”

Students for Trump says this will not be the last rally and that more will be held in the coming weeks.
