High pressure remains in the region and that will keep skies mostly clear through early Tuesday morning. The high will drift offshore and allow for clouds to dominate our skies for the back half of Tuesday. Our next storm system moves in late Tuesday night and that means widespread rain for Wednesday. Don't leave home without the umbrella Wednesday. Grab the rain boots too! This looks to be an efficient rain maker that could bring 0.5 to 1.25 inches to central North Carolina.

Rain Wednesday will last into the afternoon. A cold front will sweep by Wednesday evening ushering in cool and dry air. Highs will go from the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday, down into the 60s Thursday. Thursday night lows will be the coldest we've dealt with since late Spring. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 30s to mid-40s.
