HOKE COUNTY, N.C. -- Everybody who knew DeAndre Ricketts called him by his nickname, Papa.

  • Ricketts was gunned down at a house party in 2013
  • A $20,000 reward is being offered for any information
  • The teen is survived by parents, three brothers, a sister and two grandmothers

The 16 year old was a student at Hoke County High School. On October 13, 2013, he went to a house party just outside of Raeford. More than 100 kids from all over the Sandhills were there. Along with guns. Lots of guns.

"It appears from the investigation that he was just standing out in the yard. When the shots started firing, he caught a bullet," said Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for any information that will lead to an arrest.

"There's a reason we're pushing (holds forefinger and thumb together)...that close. We need that person that knows what we need to know to bring closure to this case. To close the books on it, to bring someone in for shooting this young man," said the sheriff.

The teen was survived by both his parents, three brothers, a sister and two grandmothers.
