We started our Wednesday with clouds and cool temperatures but when the sun popped out, the temperatures popped up!

Along with the hot temperatures, we saw the development of a complex of showers and stronger thunderstorms that moved across central North Carolina.

Through the rest of the night, and chances for showers will end and skies will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy.

On Thursday, we expect partly cloudy skies with hot and humid conditions. We should see a better chance for afternoon and evening showers and storms.

A cold front will drop into the state on Friday. This will increase the chances for precipitation for the end of the workweek.

In the tropics, Chantal is expected to weaken in the central Atlantic over the next few days. A disturbance off the southeast coast of the United States could bring more rain to the Carolina coast during the weekend.
