Plenty of clouds Wednesday made for comfortable temperatures, hope you enjoyed it because things are really heating up.

A strong upper level ridge will build over the Carolinas and southeastern U.S. late this week leading to the return of hot weather, beginning on Friday and continuing for most of next week. Record heat is possible for much of the region as highs soar into the middle 90s on Friday and through the holiday weekend.

Along with the heat we see very little chance of significant rain for the region as we look ahead. A spotty shower or thunderstorm could impact a few locations from time to time, but most locations will likely remain dry through the weekend.
