RALEIGH, N.C. -- We now know the name of the man shot by a police officer near a Raleigh apartment complex.

  • The incident reportedly happened Sunday morning on 5100 Falls of Neuse Road
  • A man approached officers with a firearm, he did not comply when asked to drop the weapon
  • The officer fired his weapon, striking the man and was transported to WakeMed

 

 

The incident reportedly happened Sunday morning on 5100 Falls of Neuse Road, over near Quail Ridge Apartments near the intersection of Millbrook Road. 
 
According to police, at 9:18 a.m., the Raleigh Fire Department responded to a call, where they encountered a man making threatening statements.

Once police arrived, they say 40-year-old Michael Hendricks, Jr. approached with a firearm. The officer told him to drop the weapon but he refused to comply. That's when the officer fired his weapon. The man was transported to WakeMed.

Hendricks' condition has not been released.

Neighbors say they've heard the man arguing with a woman at his apartment and that the police have been called out there before.

The State Bureau of Investigation will conduct an investigation into the incident.
