WAKE COUNTY, N.C. – The Baby+Co birthing centers in North Carolina are closing.

  • Baby+Co is closing all its North Carolina operations.
  • The company has faced problems following multiple newborn deaths last year.
  • Financial sustainability has been cited as the cause for the closures.

Locations in Cary, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem are expected to close next month.

In a statement on the company’s website they say, “We have made the difficult decision to close our three birth centers in North Carolina. We did not make this decision lightly, but market conditions and the payer landscape in North Carolina made these centers financially unsustainable.”

Baby+Co first made headlines last March following the deaths of three newborns over the course of seven months.
