RALEIGH, N.C. -- After a cloudy, but warm and dry end of the week, rain and cooler temperatures return for the weekend.

Developing lows pressure will continue to pull moisture into the Carolinas through the night and as we go through the night, our chance of rain will increase. The bulk of the rain is expected to occur during the overnight hours and into the first half of Saturday.  As the low moves off the North Carolina coast by Saturday afternoon, the concentrated area of rain will go with it.  This will leave us with clouds and light showers.  Temperatures will also fall during the afternoon.

The weather looks dry for Saturday night.

A new system will approach the state on Sunday and this will make for more clouds and more showers as we wrap-up the weekend.

And don't put away the umbrella after the weekend.  More showers are in the forecast for Monday with rain chances continuing through next week.  Some long range models keep this unsettled weather pattern over our area into next weekend.
