RALEIGH, N.C. -- Raleigh Police have given an update on an officer who was shot in the line of duty. This comes as Cornerstone Tavern in downtown Raleigh helped raise money for Officer Charles Ainsworth.

The bar, along with several other organizations, is hoping Officer Ainsworth recovers soon. He was shot multiple times earlier this month while responding to a carjacking.

The Ainsworth family released a statement Wednesday evening saying:

Cornerstone says Ainsworth worked off duty when he wasn't on the clock for Raleigh Police. That's why they came together to do what they can for his family.

“When I heard about it, it was terrible. It’s always terrible to hear about it, but when you hear it’s someone you know, someone you work with, it was bad. Really sad,” said operating partner Brian Kite.

The bar says all tips and a large portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Charles Ainsworth Recovery Fund.
