High pressure gave the area lots of sunshine on Tuesday but with cold air in place, daytime highs remained well below average for the end of January.

This high will move out tonight and as it does, clouds will increase through the night and into Wednesday.

On the western side of our viewing area, a few locations might see a little freezing drizzle toward sunrise on Wednesday. Counties that have a slight chance to see this light frozen precipitation include Durham, Orange, Person and western Chatham. If it does occur, impacts should be minimal at most.

Temperatures will warm by Wednesday afternoon and we could see a few light showers develop across central North Carolina then.

The main system will move across the state Wednesday night into Thursday. This is when we'll see our best chance for rain.

Skies will clear for the end of the week with cooler temperatures expected.
