RALEIGH, N.C. -- After a quiet start to the work week, unsettled weather will be with us as we head into the weekend.

  • Unsettled weather expected for the weekend
  • Thursday evening and Saturday night, expect showers
  • Very cold air will move in on Monday

Wednesday's sunshine will give way to clear skies overnight as temperatures drop into the upper 20s to low 30s.

Highs in the 50s are forecast again for Thursday with most of the day dry, but our next chance for rain will arrive Thursday evening through the early morning hours Friday. Scattered light showers are expected during that time. Rainfall amounts should be less than a tenth of an inch.

Any light showers from late Thursday night should come to an end before sunrise Friday giving way to partly sunny skies with highs around 60.

Rain is expected again over the weekend with the highest chance coming from Saturday night through Sunday. Anywhere from a half inch to one inch of rain is forecast.

Then much colder air will move into North Carolina behind this weekend's rain. Low temperatures will drop to the upper teens and low 20s by sunrise Monday and with breezy conditions at the time, it could feel more like the single digits in some parts of central North Carolina.
