WAKE COUNTY, N.C. – The owner of an extravagant north Raleigh mansion that was searched by the FBI in December reportedly has ties with a Russian oligarch who was indicted on charges of interfering with the 2016 presidential election.

  • Leonid Teyf is accused of money laundering and attempting to have his ex-wife's suspected lover deported and killed.
  • Teyf's mansion was raided by the FBI in December.
  • Teyf has ties to one of the 13 Russians indicted in the Mueller investigation.

Investigators say Leonid Teyf stole millions of dollars from the Russian government through a kickback scheme and then tried to have his ex-wife’s suspected lover deported and killed.

Russian news sources have now reported a business connection between Teyf and Yevgeny Prigozhin, one of the 13 Russians indicted last February, as part of special counselor Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Prigozhin was accused by Mueller of funding and orchestrating a campaign to influence the presidential election.

Russian sources report that Teyf, who faces 20 years in prison if convicted in the United States, provided Prigozhin with key contracts related to the Russian military.
