- It's Project Santa's 23rd year, which is geared towards giving out nearly 1,000 new and refurbished bikes
- The used bikes are built with replacement parts that volunteers put together throughout the year
- The remaining bikes are used for a second giveaway on New Years Day in Robbins
It's Project Santa's 23rd year, which is geared towards giving out nearly 1,000 new and refurbished bikes, all from within the community.
The used bikes are built with replacement parts that volunteers put together throughout the year. Kids are asked to bring three canned goods in exchange for a bike. The non-perishable food goes to a local food bank.
"It make you want to give back and help," mom of three, Amanda Collins said. "It's not always about getting. It reminds me of...just seeing everybody so happy and stuff, you know?"
The remaining bikes are used for a second giveaway on New Years Day in Robbins.
