Monday was a fantastic day around the region with sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Foothill and piedmont highs were well into the 60s with 40s in the mountains.

Another nice day is unfolding today. We will continue to have sun through the day, but temperatures will be just a touch cooler than yesterday.

Clouds will increase as Wednesday rolls along and our next storm system approaches. That system will then bring another significant round of rain to the region Thursday.

Rain could be heavy at times later Thursday and Thursday night.

Shower chances will linger for Friday, and as colder air begins to rush in behind the system, the mountains will likely kick over to some snow later Friday and Friday night. Some mountain areas could wind up with 3-6" of snow....especially the SW NC mountains.

That system departs in time for a nice weekend with plenty of sun. And as of now, the quiet weather looks to stick around through Christmas, which, hard to believe as it may be, is one week from today.
