BENSON, N.C. – A couple in Benson was charged after reportedly taking a marked patrol car from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and going for a joyride. 

  • A couple was charged after going on a short joyride in a patrol car. 
  • Charles Bullock and Nicole Thomas were arrested.
  • The patrol car was not damaged.

Monday, a deputy responded to a disturbance call on 971 T-Bar Road Lot 10 just outside of Benson. Two residents from Lot 11 are said to have stolen an officer’s patrol car and drove it a short distance.

Other officers located the stolen car and arrested the couple, 36-year-old Charles Bullock and his girlfriend, 41-year-old Nicole Thomas.

The patrol car was not damaged during the incident. Bullock was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny of a firearm for a weapon in the trunk of the patrol car. Thomas was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit larceny of a firearm.
