LUMBERTON, N.C. -- Randy Lewis, a resident of Lumberton, and several other volunteers are helping people in need after Hurricane Florence.

  • Lowe's donated money to the Christian Outreach Center where the volunteers work
  • That money is now being used to help buy heaters
  • Lewis and his team are giving the heaters away to people who have been approved by FEMA but they haven't received money yet

Lowe's donated money to the Christian Outreach Center where the volunteers work. That money is now being used to help buy heaters.

Lewis and his team are giving the heaters away to people who have been approved by FEMA but they haven't received money yet.

All of these people are living without heat, with some even living off of generators until help comes along.

Lewis says he wonders why the county isn't funding them to keep the Christian Outreach Center open. Without the place, dozens of residents would be in worse situations.

The center is accepting monetary donations. If you'd like to help, you can send your gift to Christian Outreach Center at P.O. Box 7499 in Lumberton.
