GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The North Carolina A&T football team is back in familiar territory. The Aggies are going for their third Celebration Bowl victory in the last four years. Last season, the Aggies capped off an undefeated season with a 21-14 win over Grambling in Atlanta. This year they enter the bowl game with a 9-2 record.

They met their opponent, Alcorn State, in the inaugural Celebration Bowl. Led by Tarik Cohen, the Aggies beat the Braves 41-34 in 2015. The rematch will see a Alcorn State rushing attack that averages 282.3 rushing yards per game, go against an Aggies defense that only gave up 72 yards on the ground per game. Nine current Aggies were on the roster in the 2015 victory. The senior class will try to improve their 40-7 record and grab their third HBCU national championship.

First year head coach Sam Washington was the defensive coordinator in the previous Celebration Bowl wins. The MEAC coach of the year will tie the record for most wins by a first-year Aggies head coach if they beat Alcorn State. Washington became the first Aggies head coach to start his career by beating a nationally ranked program. North Carolina A&T beat the then ranked number 6 Jacksonville State and followed that up with a win over ECU. A HBCU national championship will cap off one of the best seasons in Aggies history.
