The storm system responsible for our foray into winter will pull away from the coast of the Carolinas overnight and as it pulls away it will strengthen so winds will be gusty; 20-25 mph.

Meanwhile an upper level system will be rotating around that low and across the region so we will still see some light precipitation through Monday afternoon. Many areas will see the mixed wintery weather end as snow Monday afternoon.

Low to mid 20s are expected Tuesday and Wednesday morning and could cause some issues with re-freezing of any water on the roadways. Highs both days will be in the 40s under sunny skies.

The rest of the work week will see temperatures warm through the 50s with a chance of showers.

Snowfall totals varied greatly across the region, and also across each county.  Here are the range in reports for some counties:

  • Chatham County 5 to 8 inches

  • Durham County 6 to 14 inches

  • Forsythe County 10 to 14 inches

  • Franklin County 5 to 11 inches

  • Granville County 7 to 9 inches

  • Guilford County 9 to 14 inches

  • Johnston County 1 to 3 inches

  • Orange County 7 to 10 inches

  • Person County 9 to 14 inches

  • Wake County 2 to 9 inches
