CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Queen City's star quarterback traded in his football for a spatula Monday night to feed thousands of children Thanksgiving food.

  • Cam Newton hosted his annual Cam's Thanksgiving Jam event.
  • More than 1,200 kids from all over the Charlotte area went to Top Golf for games, crafts, food and a chance to meet their favorite quarterback.
  • This year's event hosted 400 more kids than last year.

For the 7th year in a row, Cam Newton hosted his annual Cam's Thanksgiving Jam event.

More than 1,200 kids from all over the Charlotte area went to Top Golf for games, crafts, food and a chance to meet their favorite quarterback.

With the help of Harris Teeter, not only was the Cam Newton Foundation able to give the kids a delicious meal, they also provided all the items their families will need for their own Thanksgiving feasts.

"My thing is always trying to help and use my influence in a positive way. I understand what my day job is, but also with that I want to help as many people along the way," said Newton.

This year's event hosted 400 more kids than last year.

Cam says he hopes next year they will be able to top that, with a lofty goal of helping out 2,000 children in need.
