RALEIGH, N.C. — As Tropical Storm Michael moved through North Carolina Thursday, it brought heavy wind and rain to areas through the central part of the state.

As of 10 a.m. on Friday morning, there were more than 480,000 power outages across North Carolina with more than 100,000 of those outages in central North Carolina.

The severe weather has prompted schools across the region to close and even the State Fair to delay its opening day for the first time in ten years.
