NORTH CAROLINA -- Several school districts in central and eastern North Carolina have announced that they will be closed on Thursday, October 11, as Hurricane Michael moves toward the Tar Heel State.

Central North Carolina Closings:

• Cumberland County Schools
• Durham County Schools
• Harnett County Schools
• Hoke County Schools
• Lee County Schools
• Moore County Schools
• Orange County Schools
• Wayne County Schools (closed on October 11, 3-hour delay on October 12)
• Wake County Schools

Coastal North Carolina Closings: 

• Bladen County Schools
• Brunswick County Schools
• Cape Fear Academy
• Carteret County Public Schools
• Craven County Schools
• Duplin County Schools (closed October 11, teacher workday October 12)
• New Hanover County Schools
• Onslow County Schools (closed through Friday, October 12)
• Pender County Schools
