The good news from the forecast center Wednesday is that a stretch of sunny and dry weather is in store for central and eastern North Carolina for the rest of the week.  The bad news for everyone working outside as part of the Florence recovery effort is that the next few afternoons are going to be quite warm.

Wednesday's temperatures should top out in the upper 80s to near 90.  The humidity will make it feel more like the low to mid 90s.

It will feel a bit more comfortable later in the evening as temperatures start to drop.  By Thursday morning, lows in the upper 60s to near 70 are expected.

Thursday and Friday will both bring very warm afternoons with highs in the mid to upper 80s and a slightly higher heat index.

Similar temperatures are forecast into the weekend.

Sunday through early next week will bring our next chance for showers and storms.
