Tropical Depression Florence continue to soak parts much of the Carolinas with flooding rains tonight, and more activity is likely on Monday.

Florence remains a tropical depression with winds now down to 30 mph. Its movement toward the north continues to increase. It is now moving toward the north at 10 mph.

Storm motion will continue to increase overnight as it moves into southern Virginia. It will then continue its increase in speed and movement toward the Ohio River Valley region on Monday.

The center of Florence is located 45 miles north-northeast of Greenville, South Carolina and 30 miles east-northeast of Asheville, North Carolina.

Flash Flood Warnings continue across a large portion of southeastern North Carolina tonight and portions of far northeastern South Carolina.

Flash Flood Watches also continue across much of North Carolina, northern South Carolina and portions of southwest Virginia.

Heavy and excessive rainfall is expected to continue in central and western North Carolina overnight. This will lead to more flooding and exacerbate the flooding over many areas.

An additional 2 to 5 inches of rain with storm total accumulations of 15 to 20 inches are likely for portions of central and western North Carolina. These rainfall amounts will produce flash flooding and an elevated risk for landslides in western North Carolina.

The flooding rain should diminish late on Monday, but river flooding will become an increasing concern in western and central North Carolina through the remainder of the week.
