ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Rocky Mount Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.

• Police received a call of a motor vehicle accident on South Church Street.
• Rocky Mount Police Officer Christopher Driver was killed.
• The incident is under investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

On Saturday, around 10:35 p.m., police received a call of a motor vehicle accident in the 4100 block of South Church Street.

Once on the scene, authorities determined that Rocky Mount Police Officer Christopher Driver was killed.

Driver was traveling south on South Church Street when he collided with another vehicle in his lane.

The incident is currently under investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
