LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- Lincoln County school receptionist Regina Ballard is spending the week in Florida vacationing after a video of her singing a rendition of Etta James' “At Last” went viral.

  • Regina Ballard belted out a tune her coworkers and students could relate to on the last day of school
  • The video received millions of views on social media
  • She says she is now enjoying her summer break in Florida

“I've gotten a lot of text messages from family and friends and messenger messages,” Ballard said.

With millions of views on Facebook, and after making national morning shows, she says it’s getting a little crazy.

Ballard says she wanted to send her coworkers and students off to summer break with a smile. You can see her pumping her fist of excitement for the much anticipated summer break.

Ballard said she tried singing professionally years back, but it just didn't work out.

“I'm just glad I could bring some smiles to people,” she said. “I poured my life into my two wonderful daughters, and we've had some fun times.”

Now that she's gotten calls from agencies, she says she's up for anything.

Until that time comes, the 57-year-old grandmother with that killer voice will enjoy summer with her grandbabies.
