HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. -- A child found in unconscious in water on Saturday is still in critical condition.

  • The child was playing in the water at the beach when a family member found him unresponsive
  • The child was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital then later transferred to UNC Hospital
  • Representatives from UNC Hospital say child is still in critical condition

Sheriff deputies responded to the initial report in the Carolina Lakes Subdivision.

Reportedly, the child was playing in the water at the beach when a family member found him unresponsive.

Bystanders performed CPR until medical personnel arrived.

The child was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital then later transferred to UNC Hospital.

Representatives from UNC Hospital confirmed on Tuesday morning that the 7-year-old child is in still in critical condition.
