FAYETTEVILLE -- What started with dirt, will soon end is friendship.

Construction is underway at Friendship House Fayetteville, a unique initiative that mixes medicine and faith.

Heathcare students will share the house with young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Dr. Scott Cameron lived at Friendship House Durham, and now he wants to bring that same experience to students and adults in the Sandhills.

"As a physician, sometimes a scalpel and a prescription pad can't cure someone," Cameron said. "You're really just called to walk alongside them."

Friendship House Fayetteville is set to open this summer. It will house 18 healthcare students and six young adults with special needs.
