Colder air has been moving into central North Carolina since Monday afternoon. Now with that chilly air in place and cloudy skies, temperatures will hold in the 40s almost all day Tuesday. Highs will only top out in the mid to upper 40s in the afternoon.

Despite the cloudy conditions, there is very little chance for much measurable rain. Only a few brief sprinkles are possible. There's a slightly higher chance for a few light showers in eastern North Carolina Tuesday afternoon.

As cloudy skies continue into Tuesday night, temperatures will drop to the mid 30s by early Wednesday morning. A warm up will then begin into Wednesday afternoon.

Highs will return to near 60 Wednesday. The 70s are likely by Thursday and Friday.

Mostly cloudy days are forecast through the end of the week with only slight chance for a few brief showers. Rain chances should increase late Friday into Saturday.
