STATEWIDE - The website Alarms.org has released its Safest Cities in North Carolina list for 2017.
Pinehurst, which is located between Charlotte and Fayetteville, was named the safest city in the Tar Heel State.
The city houses the Pinehurst Resort which is considered as one of the best golf resorts in the country.
According to the release, Pinehurst had just 11 violent crimes last year and a low percentage of property crimes.
