RALEIGH, N.C.-- The road to recovery for victims of Hurricane Florence will be a long one. Just take a look at other major natural disasters from around the world, like the earthquake in Haiti that devastated communities leaving people still picking up the pieces eight years later.

  • The Rock Your World concert is being held to benefit the local non-profit Hope for Haiti, along with a few other area organizations doing good right here in our community.
  • Bands like Sidewinder, the Davis Messina Band and Garland Mason will help raise money for three worthy causes.
  • While tickets are free, 30 percent of proceeds from food and drink profits will go Hope for Haiti, InterAct and SuNica.

That's why for the 9th year, the Rock Your World concert is being held to benefit the local non-profit Hope for Haiti, along with a few other area organizations doing good right here in our community.  Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with the event organizer Mark Martyak and Rex Bost, a member of the band Sidewinder, for an inside glimpse at the festival.

Bands Sidewinder, the Davis Messina Band and Garland Mason will help raise money for three worthy causes.

While tickets are free, 30 percent of proceeds from food and drink profits will go Hope for Haiti, InterAct and SuNica. The Hope for Haiti foundation provides medical care and education in the country.  InterAct is the only provider in Wake County that offers comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault services. Sunica is focused on clean water and works in Nicaragua to bring sustainable clean water solutions to homes there.

The fun event for a cause takes place on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Mayton Inn in Cary at 5:30 p.m. and runs through midnight. A silent auction, raffle, and photo booth will also be available.
