Imagine having your annual National Guard training pop up in the final weeks of a campaign for public office? That is EXACTLY what happened to North Carolina Senator for the 37th District and Army National Guard Captain Jeff Jackson.

On this week's episode of Tying It Together with Tim Boyum, Tim and Ben talk with Jeff and Marisa Jackson.

The Charlotte Democrat had to leave the state and was left with little contact down the home stretch of a competitive campaign. Instead of simply hoping for the best, his wife Marisa, with no political experience, stepped up and finished the campaign!

We'll find out about their relationship, why Sen. Jackson decided to enlist after 9/11, and of course, find out how Marisa did running her very first campaign. It's the kind of heartwarming story we could all use in politics during 2020.
