Christy Bollinger is from the small town of Cadiz, KY and is happy to be working in the South. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in May of 2017.

Before joining Spectrum News 1’s Team in Asheville, she did a three-year stint at ABC 36 News in Lexington, KY, where she was named Kentucky Broadcasters Association’s 2019 TV Rookie of the Year.

After just one visit to Asheville, she fell in love with the area and was determined to make it home. As much as Christy loves the beaches, she felt the mountains were calling her name.

She loves the outdoors and is a huge animal lover. Christy is mom to two dogs and a cat.

Her work is inspired by her desire to produce meaningful content – telling stories that matter, making the viewers feel something, and giving people who deserve it a platform. She says the best part of the job is the people she meets.

Christy loves trying out new restaurants, and spicy cuisine is her favorite. She attributes that to her Asian heritage. Her mother was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea.

When she’s not proudly covering stories in Asheville, she can be found with a book in her hand, playing with her dogs, trying out new restaurants, or hiking trails with her boyfriend. Christy’s always looking for new recommendations for people to spotlight in stories, so let her know if you have any suggestions.
