Garrett Bergquist joined the Spectrum News Raleigh team in May of 2019 as a proud reporter. Passionate about his work, Garrett loves engaging with members of the community, learning about the issues foremost in their minds, and then using different media platforms to explain these issues in a comprehensive way.

Garrett comes to the Triangle following a decade of studying and working in central Missouri.

After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from the University of Missouri, he spent nearly six years as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KRCG-TV, the CBS affiliate for the Columbia-Jefferson City market. During that time, he covered stories large and small, including presidential visits and the first resignation of a Missouri governor in more than 150 years. In addition, Garrett helped launch the station’s drone journalism program, becoming an FAA-certified commercial drone pilot in the process.

A native of Naperville, Illinois, Garrett is an avid reader, a history buff, and an experienced outdoorsman.

He’s also a car enthusiast and a hard rock fan, so keep an eye out next time you’re at a car show or a concert.
