Jonathan Lowe is North Carolina born and raised and a proud graduate of NC A&T State University. Growing up in Charlotte, Jonathan was quite the athlete. In middle school alone Jonathan swam competitively, ran track, played baseball, and danced professionally.
This isn’t Jonathan’s first stint with Spectrum News. He first worked at Spectrum right out of college in 2006, and is now back home after 10 years. In between stints, Jonathan worked in both Michigan and Phoenix for CBS affiliates.
When asked about the most meaningful story he’s ever covered, Jonathan recalls spending eight days in Wilmington, North Carolina, with Spectrum News photographer Rob McMannen covering Hurricane Florence. After riding out the storm in their hotel, which lost power on Day three, they went out and quickly got to work surveying damage and sending back as many live hits and stories as they could. It was the most humbling experience Jonathan’s ever been through.
When not at work, Jonathan spends time with his partner, two dogs, and cat. They’re avid travelers but, when at home, enjoy home improvement projects and working in their garden.
