GREENSBORO, N.C. — An all-male leadership and community engagement program hosted a 24-hour canned food drive.

This year marks the fourth annual food drive for 'The Black Suit Initiative,' whose goal is to address the issues of poverty and food insecurity.

In the past, members gathered together for the food drive, but due to COVID-19, most of the group had to quarantine at home and solicit donations through social media. Members signed an honor code agreement to fast for 24-hours during the campaign.

“We're trying to feel what they felt because a lot of people in the world don’t have food in their home," said Amir Funderburk, a member of the group. "So, we can have a mutual understanding of what they go through.”

Over the past three food drives, The Black Suit Initiative has collected over 15,000 items to serve local schools and communities.
