But with the stay-at-home order issued for North Carolina, there are fewer drivers. That also means fewer gasoline taxes are being collected. And since those taxes provide the funding for construction projects by the North Carolina Department of a Transportation, there is a problem.

Late last week, NCDOT announced they have a more than $300 million budget shortfall due to COVID-19. They also announced that many planned highway construction projects would have to be delayed.
