NORTH CAROLINA -- Overnight storms have left a mess across much of the Triad on Monday morning, leaving residents to deal with downed trees and power outages.

In Davidson County, sheriff's officials have confirmed that one person died when a tree fell on a home on Linwood-Southmont Road in Lexington, just after 6 am. The sheriff's office also reports that a tree fell on a moving vehicle in the same area. The driver of that car was not injured.

Officials say the Southmont Community was hit the hardest in the county. They also say the majority of the damage happened within a half-mile radius around the home where the person died.

In Forsyth County, a tree fell across Vienna Dozier Road in the Pfafftown/Lewisville area. One driver was reportedly on his way to work as the tree began to fall. He had to swerve to avoid hitting the tree but wound up in a ditch as a result. However, he is reportedly ok.

In Guilford County, flooding was reported at Latham Park, an area that is typically proned to such effects after heavy rain.

Meanwhile, in Alamance County, downed trees have been spotted, causing damage to local homes as well as taking down power lines.
