GREENSBORO, N.C. – A Greensboro hair salon owner created a fundraiser to help hairdressers across the nation who've been idled by the coronavirus.

Kenny Kallam has owned Boho Salon in Greensboro for three years and has been a hairdresser for 30 years, living all over the country.

Kallam said hairdressers are out of work and have no source of income.

That's why he created a T-shirt fundraiser called “#emptychairs” to raise money to distribute to hairdressers.

"I'm going to stand up and do something for our industry, and I want everybody else that is a hairdresser to stand up with me and fill these empty chairs," Kallam said.

Their goal is to raise $150,000, and he said the way it works is hairdressers from anywhere across the country can email emptychairsintl@gmail.com if they need funding, and they will distribute the money based on need and qualifications.

You can also donate online to the fundraiser.
