ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Carolina Panthers made their move to South Carolina official Tuesday – and the governor invited everyone to a party to celebrate at Fountain Park.

Gov. Henry McMaster ceremonially signed the tax break bill that will bring the team south of the border this morning in Rock Hill. While the team will still play their games at Bank of America in Charlotte, their offices and practice facility will be located in a new facility that will be built in York County.

Discussions started six months ago between team owner David Tepper and lawmkaers, and McMaster actually signed the bill last month. It includes up to $120 million in tax breaks for the team, exempting them from paying state income taxes for players, coaches, and other employees for 15 years.

Tepper wants to make it clear the team will still have a presence in Spartanburg. Training camp has been held at Wofford College for years, and he says he won't be forgetting the city. He plans to hold fan fests or other team activites there throughout the year.
