RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. -- Asheboro police arrested a man they say murdered his girlfriend six years ago.

Investigators took 41-year-old Roger Martin into custody on Monday and charged him with murder.

They say in 2013, Martin called police and told them his girlfriend was dead.

Police found the victim, 31-year-old Nova "Nikki" Robinson, lying in a pool of blood, dead from multiple stab wounds.

At the time, investigators interviewed Martin but didn't have enough evidence to charge him.

Recent advancements in DNA testing helped detectives charge him with the murder.

Martin is in the Randolph County Jail with no bond.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
