GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Cold air in place with moisture moving in late Saturday sets us up for wintry weather this weekend.

Chilly sunshine is on tap for Friday with highs in the lower to mid 40s. Clouds increase Friday night, as temperatures drop to the mid to upper 20s. A few flurries or sprinkles Saturday morning, but with dry air still in place, most precipitation will not make it to the surface. That changes as we head into Saturday night, as moisture increase from the southwest. Likely starting as a wintry mix for most, with snow northwest Saturday night into Sunday morning, with a transition to cold rain for most, and a wintry mix northwest Sunday.

As the system lifts north, we begin to dry out Monday, but clouds stick around. Improving conditions during the work week, with sunshine returns and highs back to seasonable averages.
